Quickstart
Capy Canvas needs GPU access and a pen that reports pressure to make the most of its brushes. This page helps you choose the available version and check your pen before starting the illustration tutorial.

Choose a version
The download page lists release availability and installation options. Native builds are not available yet; they are being developed to improve drawing performance beyond the browser version. For now, use the Web Demo to try the editor. You can also install the web version for offline use by following the instructions on the download page.
Capy Canvas uses your GPU to render brushes. For drawing, use a pressure-sensitive pen tablet or a pen-enabled display that works with your operating system. A display lets you draw directly on the image, but a separate pen tablet works too. A touchscreen alone does not provide pen pressure.
Check your pen
Open a document, choose the built-in Pencil preset, and make a stroke that starts lightly, gets heavier, and fades out. The mark should respond to the pressure. If it stays uniform, check input settings before adjusting the brush itself.
Start drawing
Open the illustration tutorial. Its introduction describes the intended result and the tools used to take a pencil sketch through inking and color.
If the default layout gets in your way, Workspace and canvas explains how to move panels and toolbars or hide them with Zen mode. Brush customization can wait until you have a preset you want to change.
