Selection tools

Rectangular, elliptical, and freehand selections define an area geometrically. Automatic selection uses color similarity. Selections can be added, subtracted, intersected, inverted, or cleared.

Selection boundaries

Expansion and contraction move the selection boundary outward or inward. Feathering softens it. Anti-aliasing smooths the transition at the boundary to reduce jagged edges.

Fill settings

Tolerance controls which colors a fill treats as similar. Gap closing prevents small openings from causing a fill to spread into adjacent regions. Expansion extends the fill under line art; the reference-layer setting determines which layers are sampled.
